Start your engines and hang on for dear life. It’s going to be an “off the rails” ride. Hot Wheels Unleashed collided head-on with players last month, and it was kind of a surprise for everyone. After the initial trailers of the game, which was released on September 30 across most major platforms, I dismissed the newest title in the franchise as just another racing game, akin to Burnout and Need for Speed. Don’t get me wrong, I love racing games, and I adore Hot Wheels—in fact, I still have my entire collection (probably numbering close to 100) from when I was a kid. After sinking several hours into the game, I’m happy to say Hot Wheels Unleashed is a thrilling arcade stunt racer with gorgeous visuals and excellent gameplay.
